Zoltan Istvan recently announced his formation of the Transhumanist Party, a political party based on transhumanism in the United States. However, transhumanists seemingly hold a variety of existing political affiliations which range across the political spectrum. The formation of a party suggests that there are agreed upon policies and candidates that will be supported by most or many transhumanists.

But with transhumanists quite divided on issues such as gun rights, climate change risks and projections, economic policies, and more, it seems that such a party can not be formed around the usual issues of the day.

Is transhumanism a political as well as philosophical affiliation or should it be? Does forming a political party hurt or help the prospects of transhumanism?
