I wonder if the technology will be able to work in reverse. Like, will the sensors be able to recreate the appropriate electromagnetic signals to induce neurons to think something in particular.

Just imagine the difficulty in holding our kid's attention when this technology is as ubiquitous as cell phones. Not to mention the amazing insults that will be made possible on XBox Live when 13 year olds can just release a stream of consciousness rant without even having to pause for breath.

Hell, make one of these waterproof and comfortable and we could just wear it everywhere & everywhen like a wrist watch. Not only could we interact with our environment in a whole new way, like turning the lights on and off with a thought, but we could just set the thing to "record" and we'll never lose our train of thought again. If we have an idea it will be indexed immediately. I wonder what that will do to patent law.
