With the media emphasizing reports on the Obama Administrations decision not to return astronauts to the moon, low attention types might assume that they are hostile to space exploration. An opinion piece in today’s SF Chronicle presents a different view.

"NASA’s budget proposed by the Obama administration contains a bold approach to humans traveling off planet, repairs years of cuts to the science program and restores the leading-edge technology that NASA has pioneered in the past. In a year when most domestic discretionary spending may be frozen, NASA would receive an increase of $6 billion over five years. These funds will be invested in a variety of critical areas for science and human exploration, including development of deep-space launch systems, continuing the highly successful Mars program and replacement of essential climate change satellites.".
